This is an excellent question and should be clearly addressed in the contract. Most of our sales are lump sum sales. So many marked trees and how they are marked for a set amount of payment. Usually there is a down payment made at the time of the contract signing with the balance due prior to the start of logging. In some cases, a final payment date is set.
Another type of sale is a grade and scale. The payment is usually after the completion of the job. These are the two most common types of sales. No matter which type or hybrid method payment terms should be clearly stated in the contract.
